Overview

The Master of Science in Sport Management will prepare you to be an effective manager in the rapidly growing sport industry. The program is designed for working adults seeking to become a leader in the sport industry in a variety of settings, such as professional and collegiate sports, health and fitness clubs, recreation departments, sport marketing firms, not-for-profit sport organizations, and retail sporting goods stores.
Throughout the program, you will gain hands-on experiences outside the classroom, allowing you to apply learned concepts and theories directly to the sport industry.
The Master of Science in Sport Management at Stritch is the first of its kind in southeastern Wisconsin. The program does not have a singular focus but rather it will provide you with a broad knowledge of the sport industry including the professional, governmental, and not-for profit sport industries, as well as intercollegiate and interscholastic athletics.
The curriculum is designed to apply research and theory to practical settings through a project-based approach. Sport industry topics and relevant professional experiences of each student are woven throughout the curriculum, allowing students to guide discussions and projects as they relate to their work experiences.
In addition, you must complete a fieldwork experience and capstone at the end of the program. The fieldwork experience allows you to apply the knowledge and skills you acquired in classroom and project-based experiences to the sport industry. The final capstone is a culminating research project and presentation addressing a specific issue in the sport industry.
